A swashbuckling all-rounder known for big hits and useful spin, Matt Short grabbed the headlines after he smashed his maiden Big Bash League (BBL) hundred to help his side Adelaide Strikers record the highest successful run chase in the tournament’s history. That innings was no fluke either; his brilliant performances with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Tournament at the 2022-23 BBL. The Victoria-born cricketer was drafted to the Punjab Kings as a replacement for the injured Jonny Bairstow ahead of IPL 2023.
