Punjab Kings produced another fearless batting display at the picturesque Dharamsala venue, but fell just short in a high-scoring thriller against Delhi Capitals on Monday night.
Asked to bat first after Delhi opted to field, Punjab Kings posted an imposing 210/5 courtesy of sparkling contributions from Priyansh Arya, Shreyas Iyer and Suryansh Shedge. However, Delhi Capitals chased the target down with three wickets in hand and six balls to spare.

PBKS came out with aggressive intent as Priyansh Arya continued his impressive season with a blazing 56 off 33 deliveries, lighting up the powerplay with six towering maximums. His attacking approach ensured the hosts raced ahead in the early overs.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer then anchored the innings beautifully with an unbeaten 59 off just 36 balls. Cooper Connolly chipped in with a fluent 38, while Suryansh Shedge provided the finishing flourish with a sensational 21* off only eight deliveries to push Punjab beyond the 200-run mark.

Defending 211, PBKS struck early through Arshdeep Singh, who removed both KL Rahul and Sahil Parakh inside the powerplay. Yash Thakur also chipped in with a wicket as Delhi were reduced to 33/3.

The visitors, however, rebuilt through skipper Axar Patel and David Miller, who counterattacked aggressively in the middle overs. Axar smashed 56 off 30 balls, while Miller’s 51 kept Delhi firmly in the chase. PBKS continued to fight till the very end, with Ben Dwarshuis and Marcus Stoinis picking up crucial wickets to keep the contest alive.

Despite the defeat, Punjab Kings showed plenty of positives with the bat and remain firmly in the playoff race. The Kings currently sit fourth on the points table with 13 points from 11 matches as the business end of the season approaches.
