The Punjab Kings may not have made it to the playoffs of the Tata Indian Premier League 2022, but there were individuals whose performances will be etched in the hearts of the fans for a long time to come.

The Shers, both the new and the old, wrote their names in the team’s records with some memorable performances.

Below is a look at top players for Punjab Kings in the Tata Indian Premier League 2022 by numbers.

Most runs - Shikhar Dhawan

Punjab Kings opener Shikhar Dhawan scored the most runs for the team this season. In 14 games, he has amassed 460 runs, with a highest of 88* that came against CSK in a huge win. He has struck at a rate of 122.67, and has more often than not given the Kings a good start.

Most sixes - Liam Livingstone

The big-hitter has been in great form this season, bringing up four half centuries in 14 matches, striking at a magnificent rate of 182.08. Naturally, he has the most sixes for PBKS this season with 34 maximums, and ahead of the playoffs, is just three behind Jos Buttler, who is topping the list at 37 sixes. His maximum in the last league stage game also brought up 1000 sixes for the current season, the most in the history of the league.

Most fours - Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan once more makes it to the list of top performers, this time in the boundaries section. Enroute to getting 460 runs, he also scored the most fours for the team - 47. Ahead of the playoffs, he is tied third with LSG’s Quinton de Kock and SRH’s Abhishek Sharma overall, and is behind David Warner of DC, who has 52 fours, and Jos Buttler from RR, who has 56 fours.

Highest batting strike rate (min two innings played)

English batter Livingstone’s strike rate of 182.02 has been the highest for PBKS this season. His 437 runs have come from just 240 deliveries. From the league’s top-eight run scorers this season, Livingstone is the only non-opener. His accelerated approach to getting runs on the board is very evident here.

Most wickets - Kagiso Rabada

South African pace king Kagiso Rabada stacked up 23 wickets in the Tata Indian Premier League 2022. Despite playing only 13 games as opposed to the other players who top that list, Rabada stands third overall, ahead of the playoffs. Yuzvendra Chahal and Wanindu Hasaranga have 26 and 24 wickets respectively in 14 games each.

Best bowling figures - Odean Smith

Odean Smith tops this department for the Kings with his 4/30 against the Mumbai Indians, which helped PBKS post a 12-run win at Pune. His victims included Dewald Brevis, Jaydev Unadkat, Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills. He also assisted in running out Kieron Pollard and taking a smooth catch to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav in that match.

Most dot balls - Kagiso Rabada

Rabada has bowled 48 overs in the Tata IPL 2022, essentially bowling 288 legal deliveries. Out of these, a big chunk of 133 balls have been dots. This means that Rabada has not allowed any runs to come off of his deliveries in over 46% of his bowling, and to achieve this in a batter-dominated format of the game is exceptional.

Best economy rate - Sandeep Sharma

Veteran fast bowler Sandeep Sharma, who made a comeback into the team, has done well in keeping it tight for the batters in the Tata IPL 2022. He has an economy rate of 7.65, the best for a PBKS bowler this season.
