After ending Pakistan's run of 11 successive series wins, with the help of two Man of the Match awards, David Miller was named the Man of the Series even as South Africa failed to clean sweep the three-match T20 International encounter on Wednesday.
He starrred for the team in their victory in the first T20I by taking four catches and two run outs and then led from the front to score an unbeaten 65 in just 29 balls to set up a competitive total for the Proteas in the second T20I. These Man of the Match efforts in both games were enough to seal the series for the home side.
Miller managed only 13 runs in the final T20I at Centurion as South Africa went down by 27 runs.
"To beat the No. 1 ranked T20 side in the world is a huge achievement even though the result on Wednesday was a bit disappointing," said Miller, slated to play in the upcoming VIVO Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab.
"We came out and showed our class in all three formats... really chuffed with a series win," Miller added. "The captaincy was really enjoyable. It tested me a bit, but the guys made it easy. I was supported by management and players.
"You always look at where you go wrong or right, and there are things I can do differently," the KXIP batsman continued. "Hopefully I will learn from those things. The guys have really put their hands up to compete against the best T20 team in the world, and beaten them as well."
