Our talismanic captain, Shikhar Dhawan, accomplished a magnificent milestone on May 8 to become only the third cricketer to smash 50 half-centuries in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 37-year-old flamboyant left-hander reached the outstanding feat during our nail-biting encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.

Dhawan led from the front as he played a brilliant knock of 57 runs from 47 balls, laced with nine fours and one six.

Skipper Joins Illustrious List:

With another fifty to his name, Dhawan became just the second Indian cricketer to hit 50 fifties in the marquee T20 tournament. Virat Kohli from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is the first Indian to accomplish the milestone.

Interestingly, Delhi Capitals (DC) captain David Warner is the only overseas cricketer to slam 50 half-centuries in the tournament’s history.

Shikhar Dhawan’s Impressive Form:

Dhawan is continuing his rich vein of form in the ongoing edition. He is the leading run-scorer in our team. Dhawan has amassed 349 runs in eight matches at an average of 58.17 and a strike rate of 143.62. He has hit three fifties in the process.

Earlier in the tournament, Dhawan became only the second batter to amass 6,500 runs.

Dhawan has now scored 6,593 runs in 214 matches. He is only behind Kohli (7,043) on the list.

We hope our captain mesmerises us with scintillating performances in the remainder of the TATA IPL 2023.
