Punjab Kings fought till the very end but came up just six runs short in a gripping IPL 2025 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad.

Chasing a target of 191, Punjab were restricted to 184 for 7 despite a late flourish from Shashank Singh, who smashed an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls with six sixes and three fours.

Punjab’s innings had early setbacks after opener Priyansh Arya fell for 24. Josh Inglis added some momentum with a quick 39 off 23 deliveries, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Skipper Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for just 1, and Nehal Wadhera managed 15 before being caught.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya proved to be the difference for RCB, returning figures of 2 for 17 in his four overs. He dismissed Inglis and Iyer in quick succession and was later named Player of the Match. Earlier, RCB posted 190 for 9, with Virat Kohli top-scoring with 43 and Rajat Patidar contributing 26. Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets each for Punjab, helping contain the total.

While the title proved elusive, Punjab Kings can take heart from a campaign built on resilience, depth, and a fighting spirit that pushed the final to the very last ball.
