Punjab Kings suffered a six-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals in Match 66 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, despite posting a competitive total of 206 for 8.

Batting first after being put in, Punjab were powered by half-centurion Shreyas Iyer (53 off 34) and a late cameo from Marcus Stoinis (44* off 16). The team crossed the 200-run mark but lost momentum due to regular wickets at key stages. Mustafizur Rahman (3 for 33) and Vipraj Nigam (2 for 38) were the standout bowlers for Delhi.

Delhi’s chase was anchored by Karun Nair (44 off 27) before Sameer Rizvi turned the match in their favour with an unbeaten 58 off 25 balls. Rizvi struck five sixes and three boundaries, earning the Player of the Match award. Tristan Stubbs supported him with 18 not out, as Delhi reached the target with three balls to spare.

Among Punjab’s bowlers, Harpreet Brar returned figures of 2 for 41, while Praveen Dubey picked up one wicket in his two overs. However, the attack could not contain Rizvi in the closing overs.

The defeat still leaves Punjab Kings in second place on the points table, maintaining a strong position heading into the final stretch of the league stage. With key performances continuing from both bat and ball, PBKS will look to regroup quickly as they prepare to take on Mumbai Indians in their next fixture on Monday, May 26.
