Shikhar Dhawan etched his name in history books as he became the second batter to complete 6,500 runs in TATA Indian Premier League (IPL).

Dhawan achieved an incredible feat during our match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The flamboyant southpaw needed 21 runs before the game to reach the milestone. The 37-year-old provided us with a sensational start against CSK. In the process, he completed the landmark.

Skipper’s 15-ball 28 laid the foundation for a mammoth total of 201. We hunted down the target and registered the highest successful chase by an away team at Chepauk.

Over the years:

In the 16-year-old tournament, Dhawan has amassed 6,506 runs in 212 matches at an average of 35.75 and a strike rate of 127.12. He has smashed two centuries and 49 fifties.

Dhawan has been one of the consistent performers in the marquee event. He scored 450+ runs in each season of the last seven years of TATA IPL, including 460 runs for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2022.

In the 2020 edition, Dhawan accumulated 618 runs in 17 matches. He also slammed two tons in the Delhi Capitals (DC) colours.

Best in Red:

Our skipper missed his third TATA IPL hundred by just one run after he remained unbeaten on 99 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing edition.

The left-hander is only behind Virat Kohli in the all-time leading run-scorers list in TATA IPL. Kohli has scored 6,957 runs in 231 matches so far.

Dhawan has been our highest run-scorer in the ongoing edition. He has accumulated 262 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 148.86 while maintaining an impressive average of 65.50. He was the Orange Cap holder during the initial phase of the tournament.

We hope our captain continues his scintillating form to guide us to the coveted TATA IPL title.
