In what proved to be a largely one-sided final at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Northern Warriors managed a comfortable win over the Delhi Bulls to claim their first T10 League title. Chasing a target of 82, Nicholas Pooran’s side claimed a convincing eight-wicket victory.

There was further joy for Northern Warriors captain Nicholas Pooran, as he was also named the Player of the Tournament for the 2021 T10 League for his stellar performances with the bat, alongside his tactful leadership skills. Pooran, who represents Kings XI Punjab in the Dream11 Indian Premier League, was the second highest run getter in this Abu Dhabi based tournament.

The 25-year-old scored 241 runs in the competition, which included a stellar 89 runs off just 26 balls. Pooran played his natural attacking game throughout the tournament, scoring 15 fours and 26 sixes- the most by any player in the competition. In the final, the southpaw opened the innings for his franchise, scoring 12 runs in quick time, while his strike partner Waseem Mohammed took on the mantle to finish the game for the team.

Accolades for Jordan

There was further joy for Kings XI Punjab fans, as alongside Nicholas Pooran, their marquee overseas bowler Chris Jordan also had a gala time in the 2021 T10 League. The pacer was named as the bowler of the tournament, picking up seven wickets in seven games for his franchise, Qalandars. Apart from picking up crucial wickets, Jordan did an extraordinary job by keeping a tight squeeze on the opposition scoring rate throughout the competition. He had an economy rate of slightly over eight an over, which is commendable in a tournament where all batsmen had been going hell for leather.
