Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) head coach Trevor Bayliss has praised his players ahead of their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 2019 World Cup-winning coach has said that he is very happy with the way his players have performed in IPL 2023 so far.

“Very happy with the way the boys are playing. So, I'm looking forward to another good game. I much prefer to win two matches than lose two matches,” Bayliss said.

Led by their talismanic captain Shikhar Dhawan, the Kings have won both their matches so far. The PBKS outfit started their IPL 2023 campaign with a seven-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Mohali. They later defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five runs in a thrilling high-scoring encounter in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Bayliss has further stated there is a little bit of stress and pressure ahead of every IPL match.

“Look, every match you play, there’s obviously a little bit of stress and pressure for everyone involved. You know there are some very good teams around, and any team on their day is capable of beating any team,”the New South Wales-born coach added.

He has also voiced that the Kings’ team management is not afraid to make changes to their playing XI even after winning both their opening fixtures.

“Obviously, we’ll make a decision based on the wicket, and the opposition we’re playing when we pick the team. Yeah, look, we won’t be afraid of making changes if we think that’s what’s needed. Even after winning two games, we have got to pick a team that is capable of winning this match,” the 60-year-old said.

Bayliss has also made a request to the Punjab Kings’ followers to come to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to support their players.

“To all the Punjab Kings’ fans out there, if you’re a fan, come along to the Hyderabad match. We’re looking forward to it. Jazba Hai Punjabi,” Bayliss expressed.

With two wins in two, the Kings are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2023 standings and will aim to continue their winning streak against SRH on Sunday.
