We are still not over our remarkable win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai. Our boys scripted history on Sunday, April 30, as we chased down 201 during a thrilling TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match to register the highest successful chase by a visiting team at the iconic Chepauk.

First Away Team To Chase 200+ At Chepauk

Punjab Kings became the first visiting team to successfully hunt down 200+ runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

With nine runs needed off the final over, Sikandar Raza’s heroics guided us over the line on the very last ball of the nail-biting encounter.

With the pulsating win, we surpassed the previous record of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk in TATA IPL. During the final of 2012, KKR posted 192/5 while chasing CSK’s 190/3 to clinch their maiden title.

Livi-Storm Shifted Momentum

Our star all-rounder, Liam Livingstone, was our game-changer in the high-scoring thriller in Chennai.

Having lost our openers, Livingstone walked out to bat at number four. The 29-year-old showcased his hard-hitting capabilities as he clobbered the CSK pacer, Tushar Deshpande, for two consecutive sixes at the start of the 16th over. There was no respite for Deshpande as Livingstone managed a four and followed it by another maximum to shift the momentum in our favour.

Livingstone kept us in the hunt by smashing 24 runs off the 16th over.

Jitesh’s Small Role, Big Impact

Our swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter, Jitesh Sharma, played a match-winning cameo.

With 50 runs required off 25 balls, Jitesh joined Sam Curran in the middle. The Amravati-born cricketer hammered Ravindra Jadeja for a 101-metre six. He hit two more boundaries to amass 21 runs off 10 balls to take us near the finishing line.

Jitesh’s impressive knock was one of the standout performances during our epic win at Chepauk.

Having secured our fifth win of TATA IPL 2023, we are inching closer to our elusive trophy.
