One of the positives for Punjab Kings (PBKS) was our impressive away record in TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Under coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Shikhar Dhawan, our boys performed brilliantly away from home this season.

We won five of the seven matches away from home in TATA IPL 2023. Only defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) have a better away record than us this edition. They registered six victories out of their seven away matches in the league phase.

Our boys defeated five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium, four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at their adopted home in Guwahati.

Let’s relive our away wins in TATA IPL 2023:

Thrilling Win Over RR:

Put in to bat, our boys rode on fifties from Dhawan (86 not out) and Prabhsimran Singh to post a huge total of 197/4 in our 20 overs. Later, Nathan Ellis’ four-wicket haul helped us register a nail-biting five-run win at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Last-Over Victory In Lucknow:

Electing to bowl first, we restricted LSG to 159/8 courtesy Sam Curran’s three-fer and Kagiso Rabada’s two wickets. Chasing 160, our boys made a challenging start as we were reduced to 45/3. However, Sikandar Raza’s 57 off 41 balls and Shahrukh Khan’s unbeaten 10-ball 23 guided us to a thrilling two-wicket win in Lucknow.

Outstanding Win Against MI:

Our stand-in captain Sam Curran smashed 55 off 29 balls and contributions from Harpreet Singh (41), Atharva Taide (29), Prabhsimran Singh (26) and Jitesh Sharma (25) powered us to a mammoth total of 214/8. Arshdeep Singh later produced a game-changing four-wicket haul to help us register a memorable 13-run win at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Historic Run-Chase At Chepauk:

Our boys scripted history as we pulled off the highest-ever run-chase by an away team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Opting to bat, CSK posted a huge total of 200/4. Later, Prabhsimran (42) and Livingstone (40) played impactful cameos, while contributions from Jitesh (21) and Raza (13 not out) guided us over the line off the very last ball of the thrilling encounter.

Comprehensive Win In Delhi:

In our must-win fixture in Delhi, we produced a clinical performance to beat hosts DC by 31 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Put in to bat, Prabhsimran slammed his maiden TATA IPL hundred to help us post 167/7. The hosts were off to a blistering start in the chase before Harpreet Brar’s four-wicket haul and Rahul Chahar’s two crucial wickets lead us to a comprehensive win for us.
