Swashbuckling young opening batter, Prabhsimran Singh, has grabbed the headlines with his scintillating performances in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

The 22-year-old has finished as our second-highest run-scorer this season, only behind captain Shikhar Dhawan. The Patiala-born cricketer has amassed 358 runs in 14 matches at an excellent strike rate of 150.42. He has smashed one fifty and one hundred in the TATA IPL 2023.

Having been part of our franchise since 2019, Prabhsimran has been our emerging player this edition. Here we take a look at some of his brilliant innings in the 2023 season:

Maiden ton vs DC:

Prabhsimran’s maiden TATA IPL hundred against hosts Delhi Capitals (DC) will be remembered for a long time. Put in to bat in a must-win game on a tricky Kotla wicket, our flamboyant opener took his batsmanship to the next level. The talented batter smashed 103 runs off just 65 balls despite losing wickets at the other end. Interestingly, Prabhsimran scored 62 percent of the team’s runs to help us post a competitive total of 167/7. His magnificent hundred included 10 fours and six maximums. Prabhsimran’s maiden ton put massive pressure on the hosts as they could only manage 136/8 in their allotted overs. A 31-run victory in Delhi kept our playoff hopes alive.

Dazzling fifty vs RR:

Early in our season, the rising youngster notched up his first TATA IPL fifty against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. After being given an opportunity to open the innings with skipper Dhawan, Prabhsimran grabbed it with both hands as he slammed a 34-ball 60 against a formidable RR bowling attack, comprising the likes of Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jason Holder. His blitzkrieg was laced with seven fours and three sixes. Prabhsimran’s half-century powered us to a huge total of 197/4. We later restricted RR to 192/7 to register a thrilling five-run win in our tough away fixture.

Quick-fire Knock vs CSK:

Prabhsimran played a pivotal role in our historic run-chase at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Chasing a mammoth 201 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the right-handed batter got us off to a brilliant start as he hammered a 24-ball 42 to keep us in the hunt. He stitched crucial partnerships with Dhawan and Atharva Taide before he was dismissed in the ninth over. Later, our boys scripted history as we recorded the highest successful chase by a visiting team at the iconic Chepauk Stadium.
