Punjab Kings’ stars have hogged the limelight with their brilliant performances in different parts of the world during this week. Here we take a look at some of the standout performances from our PBKS players in our weekly round-up:

Vidwath Kaverappa - 5/28 vs North Zone

PBKS’ young pacer Vidwath Kaverappa grabbed the headlines with his five-wicket haul in the Duleep Trophy 2023. Playing for South Zone, Kaverappa produced one of his finest spells to finish with figures of 17.3-8-28-5 against North Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2023 semifinal at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Kaverappa’s fifer helped South Zone bundle out North Zone for 198 in the first innings. While Kaverappa was one of the standout bowlers in the domestic 2022-23 season, he has continued his exceptional form to bag his third five-for in his short career.

Prabhsimran Singh - 59 vs North East Zone, 49 vs South Zone

Punjab Kings’ swashbuckling batter Prabhsimran Singh has continued his impressive form in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. Representing North Zone, the 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter slammed a brilliant fifty against North East Zone in the second innings of the quarterfinal at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Prabhsimran’s North Zone thrashed North East Zone by 511 runs. In their semifinal clash against South Zone, Prabhsimran top-scored for North Zone with 49 in the first innings. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran has been selected in the 15-man India ‘A’ squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 to be held in Colombo from July 13.

Sikandar Raza - 42 & 1/57 vs Oman 

Sikandar Raza continued his magnificent all-round form in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023. The Zimbabwean all-rounder scored 42 off 49 balls against Oman to help his side post a massive score of 332/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Later, Raza bowled his full quota of 10 overs, including bagging the wicket of Aqib Ilyas to finish with figures of 10-0-57-1. The PBKS star’s all-round show guided Zimbabwe to a crucial 14-run win over Oman in their Super Sixes clash.

Shivam Singh - 74 vs IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans & 51 vs Nellai Royal Kings

PBKS’ talented batter Shivam Singh has been in sensational form in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023. Representing Dindigul Dragons, Shivam scored an unbeaten 74 off 57 balls against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to help his side chase down a target of 174 in 18.3 overs and register a commanding eight-wicket win. Shivam later followed it up by slamming another match-winning fifty (51) against Nellai Royal Kings to guide Dindigul Dragons to a seven-wicket victory. Shivam has been one of the leading batters in TNPL this season, having amassed 270 runs in seven matches at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 137.06. 

Shahrukh Khan - 53 (23) & 2/35 vs Siechem Madurai Panthers

Shahrukh Khan shone with both bat and ball to help Lyca Kovai Kings register a clinical 44-run win over Siechem Madurai Panthers in their TNPL 2023 clash. Batting at number five, Lyca Kovai Kings captain Shahrukh led from the front as he smashed 53 runs off just 23 balls to power his side to 208/5 in their 20 overs. Shahrukh’s blitzkrieg fifty was laced with six fours and three sixes. The 28-year-old all-rounder later scalped two wickets to finish with figures of 4-0-35-2. Shahrukh was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round effort.

Sam Curran - 47 & 1/34 vs Somerset

PBKS star all-rounder Sam Curran has continued his excellent all-round form in the ongoing T20 Blast. Playing for Surrey, Curran scored 47 while chasing a massive target of 209 against Somerset. His knock included one four and three sixes. Earlier, Curran was one of the economical bowlers for Surrey as he gave away just 34 runs in his four overs, while picking up the crucial wicket of Somerset opening batter Tom Banton. In T20 Blast 2023, Curran has already amassed 374 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 151.42. He has also bagged 15 wickets at an average of 27.93 and an economy of 8.55.
