After a manic day on Saturday, the second day of the VIVO Indian Premier League auctions was much more measured for Kings XI Punjab, but just as expected with eleven players picked up.

We were off to a great start early in the day by adding experienced batsman, Manoj Tiwary to the squad.

After a lot of chatter about lack of bowling strength, we got one of our stars from last season back using the Right to Match card.

But if you thought that KXIP did not try to buy big once again today, you could not be more wrong! The bidding war for Jaydev Unadkat was surely one of the talking points of the day, albeit he went to RR after a sneaky last-ditched bid…

Adding some mystery and enigma to the Kings, was Mujeeb Zadran, the guileful spinner from Afghanistan. His selection thoroughly justified.

Andrew Tye, the T20 specialist from Down Under was another hot property, but joined KXIP’s arsenal after a fierce bidding war with CSK.

With Barinder Sran’s left arm pace added to the armoury, our bowling attack looks lethal now.

But that wasn’t all, with unknown commodity Ben Dwarshuis set to bedazzle the competition in the Kings’ threads!

And what are VIVO IPL auctions without some fun and banter?

After picking up a few youngsters to add to the squad, came the big surprise, with the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle moving to KXIP! You can thank us later, RCB fans! 😉

All in all, KXIP has built a stellar unit with strengths in all departments. The fans definitely agree with us.

With all the squads now finally built, it will be interesting to see how they fare come the 11th season of the VIVO Indian Premier League.
