He’s the Aussie wizard who can weave magic in every innings. He is brutish in his approach, not afraid of taking the bold route and is constantly re-defining the rules when it comes to batting. His sharp instinct and never-say-die attitude make him a dead ringer for the pool-est, oops, coolest super hero in recent times. Meet our Merc from Down South, Aaron Finch.

Origin Story

Ever since he burst onto the international cricket scene, ‘Finchy’s name has become synonymous with aggression, big hits and never going down easily. A specialist in the shortest format, he has asserted himself as one of the premium batsmen of the game. His score of 156 against England in their own backyard is still the highest individual score in an international T20 match. His hunger for runs keeps him at the top of the food chain and makes him ideal to have at the top of the order.

Though Aaron Finch is a well-established opener and has played a bulk of his career as one, he is not averse to dropping down and going all guns blazing in the fag end of the innings.

Gun for Hire

The Mercenary from Oz has played for an astounding 12 franchises the world over – discounting the Australian National Team and the Australia A side. After being signed by Kings XI Punjab in the recently concluded VIVO IPL player auctions, he has become the first player to represent 7 IPL teams. Call him a journeyman or a mercenary, one thing is for certain, that he knows how to strike his targets when they least expect it.

However, it’s not all work and no play for this Aussie hitman. His Instagram account is filled with hilarious images of him and his team mates, proving it’s fun to be Aaron.

Aaron through his heart

The big hitting ‘Finchy’, who has often had the opponents tied in knots, has finally decided to tie the knot himself on the 7th of April with his fiancée Amy Griffith. This will, of course, mean that he will end up missing Kings XI Punjab’s first match against Delhi Daredevils on the 8th of April but no one at KXIP is complaining. In fact they couldn’t be happier for the aggressive and muscular Mercenary of Oz.

Here’s wishing the Sher-e-Punjab a long innings, both, in his marriage and when he takes the field for the Kings this IPL season
